Part 1: Potty Training
We are trying to potty train my 3 1/2 year old... yes, I know, many of you are thinking, "3 1/2? My kids were all potty trained by 6 months, what is she thinking?!?" Truth is, child number one was slow to potty train and when he was ready, it was just a decision he made and POOF! all done, besides an accident or two and the tendancy he had to want to go in various places (on purpose) he was done. He never had a, um, how should I say it, an accident with #2 in his underwear and has NEVER wet the bed. So, I was feeling like this was a good way to potty train, just wait until they are ready and POOF!
But child number 2 is at the same age and had no indication at all that he would ever be ready, so we started to "train" him. He has been in "pull ups" for several months now because he can get them off quickly and take himself to the bathroom, which he does regularly, not consistently, but regularly (anytime he wants some chocolate chips.) He does not do as well for when he has to um, poop. We are often changing poopy pull ups, which makes me very happy for the person that decided to make the sides velcro. Yeah for people that think things through!
Part 2: My favorite question
I have a favorite question that I like to ask Carter because the answers are always so fun... "Why did you do that?" Yes, it's a scary question to ask a 3 year old, but I do like to hear the answer. Most of the time the answers don't really make sense to the question, below are some common answers to the question...
Q: "Why did you hit your sister?" A 1: "Because I love her." A 2: "Because I had to."
Q: "Why did you throw that toy?" A 1: "Because I didn't want you to be mad at me." A 2: "Because I didn't want you to spank my bum."
Now to the story:
Yesterday, I was upstairs getting ready for the day and Carter came in to my bedroom. I could smell him immediately. Here is the conversation...
Me: Did you go poo-poo in your diaper?
Carter: Ummm, yes.
Me: Why did you do that?
Carter: I wanted to surprise you.
Hummm...
